Attractions: Cockermouth has a good range of shops (including a supermarket), restaurants and pubs. Wordsworth House is the most popular visitor attraction. This is the childhood home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth and the National Trust run house provides a fascinating insight into their early lives. The area around Cockermouth also has many interesting attractions, with the Bassenthwaite nature reserve and Osprey viewing points. To the east lies the Whinlatter Forest Park, with a range of attractions including forest trails, adventure playgrounds, and an excellent cafe and visitor centre. Keswick also provides a good range of places to eat as well as further attractions and shops.


Fells: On the fringes of the Lake District National Park, Cockermouth is closest to  Skiddaw, which provides a gentle but long walk with fantastic panoramic views from the top.
